since i've been gone........ from omaha

i've had a request for a blog update.... apparently i'm pretty pathetic at it, but sadly it is because my life is not so interetsing. here is what i've been up to......
  • finishing up my last rotation at intermountain medical center. i've been working with pharmacists in the heart and lung building
  • saw a cabg surgery - it was awesome... pretty sure i could have been a good surgeon
  • saw part of the lung removed - not so awesome. my dreams of being a surgeon are no more
  • learned all about meds for the heart
  • spent a lot of time with the family. oh what good times when the six of us get together.
  • watched a ton of march maddness, i still believe that michigan state could have and should have won
pretty lame isn't it. well some not so fun or cool things was trying to fit all my blongings in my bedroom. yeah you try to fit 4 years of crap accumulation + my bedroom = no chance!! there is no way i was going to pull that one off, so i now live in a partial storage space/bedroom. it is a dream.

but for real.... i miss my pals in omaha, but really life isn't all too bad.

visit from friends

i was instructed to let everyone know that kate, lynette and doug smith stopped by in omaha to visit me last week. well not really omaha we met in lincoln, but still close enough. it was fun to have dinner out here with some friends from back home. thanks for stopping in friends!

i'm growing up

i've done it. i got a job. not just any job, but a real grown up, full time, college degree required job. who would have ever guessed the day would come. i questioned it at sometimes. but all those years of hearing the hard work will pay off, yeah we'll see about that. in a year from now, i'll get back to you on that one.

now that i've accepted the job i realize that was the easy part. i have to find a place to live. i have to move. i have to actually be a grown up with a full time job. not really my dreams coming true. life of a student really isn't that bad. i've actually kind of started getting really good at it. class in the morning, nap in the afternoon, homework at night, favorite tv shows and a little more studying then sleep, and repeat. but you never know this working thing might be kind of fun.

sad news is i'm leaving my home in omaha. that is right it has become a second home to me. my friends here are the greatest. i never thought i'd be this sad to leave, but the idea of not coming back is just not normal. good news is though everyone can always use a good road trip. so they will just have to all head out to visit me.

so that is it, i do have a job to go to once i graduate.

am i really that oblivious

after talking to a good friend, and she asked the question that every single girl loves to hear..... "so are you dating anyone these days?" and i have to once again confirm to her that it is still just me. but it got me to thinking. am i really that oblivious to know when a guy likes me?

i've always been bad at this. i remember in highschool when i heard a friend of me had a crush on me, and you know my reaction.... had i had any idea, i would have been all over that. but unfortunately i was clueless.

fastforward a few years. friends of mine tell me that there are some poor guys out there that want to be more then friends with me, but if you asked me i'd have to be honest and say i do not know what you are talking about. i may joke about it but really, i wouldn't be able to name a single boy who wants to date me. (ok i really do know of one, but that's because he told me so).

i read the book he's just no that into you, but where is the instruction guide to he is just that into you. am i really just oblivious or are am i right in assuming we just friends? maybe i'm just over thinking things. what does it mean if a guy were to do this.....

- a boy starts watching desperate housewives, after you two watch it together
- a boy stays at your apartment until almost 4 am watching tv and talking
- a boy moving just to sit by you on the couch
- a boy wanting to share your blanket with you
- a boy texting you after he gets home from a date with another girl
- a boy bringing you your favorite candy, not once but twice
- a boy telling you he's going to miss you while you're gone
- a boy staying after to talk to you after all your other friends have left
- a boy texting to tell you a show about britney spears is on tv, and texting you through the entire thing like you are watching it together.

ok these are just a few things that have happened lately in my life, one by it self might seem like just a nice jesture, but what if i were to tell you that it was on a couple of guys doing these things. am i missing something here? i hope that i'm not giving these guys the wrong idea.

don't you sometimes wish your life could be one of those choose your own adventure books. that when faced with a choice you can either skip to page 84 or go back to page 23. then when you didn't really like the way the story was going you could go back and try again like the first try never really happened. just think of all the the paths you could get yourself off of and start over. oh if life were only so easy. but seriously think about it..... so you decide to take a job and well it wasn't really what you hoped for so rewind and you are back to where you never took the job and you chose option two and no one knows any different. or even better you know those killer jeans or shoes you want, and you are debating to buy them or not. well, if you had the chance to take them for a test drive and if they brought positive results then keep going, but if not then well why waste that money?

yeah i really shouldn't complain my life right now is pretty fabulous. i graduate in a few months.... finally! i have a great family and friends, but you know a little excitement of seeing how my life could be different wouldn't be something i was object to. you know there are a few choices i might want to try over again. the problem is though, what if the other choice turned out to be worst then the first. that would stink to do choice one over again.

so i guess there is no reason to complain, but still don't you ever wonder what it would be like if you could choose to.

utah

six weeks off of school in the middle of the school year what more could a girl ask for? besides the fact that i am trying to move, and trying to pack my stuff to last me for 6 weeks. packing for 6 weeks in 2 suitcases is really not so easy.
the good news is though is that i get to be in utah for 6 weeks and i can not wait.
the bad news it means it will be my last christmas break from school ever, and that means i'm a little closer to having to find a job. boo who really wants to grow up.

summer time catch up

yes, i know i am horrible about updating this thing.... but it is because i can be. so here are the exciting things that have happened to me in the last few months.
  • college world series. that's right after 3 years in omaha i finally made it to some games. my parents came out and spent the weekend with me and the three of us went to a game. i also went to a game with a group of friends and we had a bbq on my roof after that. besides the down pour of rain at the beginning the night ended up being pretty fun.
  • brady got home! we were able to get the whole heaps family back together for some family fun, which always has to include some kind of competition so we took it to the miniature golf course. not often you see 4 children over 20 years old mini golfing with their parents, but that was us.
  • rotation #2 was at walgreens in omaha. not my dream job.... best thing i've heard about walgreens is them described as the pharmacy mafia.. once you start working there it is for life and they are like a huge family trying to take over the pharmacy world... now is that really who you want filling your prescriptions?
  • rotation #3 UTAH.... i worked at rite aid. yes i did feel like i joined the competition, but i felt like i switched to the good side. i gave my first immunization at this place and not the highlight of the experience.
  • while in utah we got to go to bear lake... always a fun time for the heaps fam. it is almost one long non-stop weekend of competition. but the skiing was fabulous as always. even skiing is a competition to who is the best skier.... this is one competition i am not even a part of.
  • i am now on rotation #4 ... that means in 2 weeks i will be half way done with my 4th year... wow time is flying. this is my ambulatory rotation... i'm working at the lincoln va at the anticoagulation clinic. basically what i do is patients come in and i look at their lab values and determine if their coumadin dose needs to be adjusted.

so basically nothing really interesting has happened in my life... so no need to feel left out that it has been so long since my last post. maybe i'll try to start living a more exciting life, and get better at writing posts, but then again i probably won't.
